Teen Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Criminal Mischief in Lexington

A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with multiple incidents of vehicle theft and criminal mischief in Lexington, Kentucky. The arrest came after an out-of-county pursuit that ended in Fayette County on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Detectives from the Auto Crimes Unit have been investigating a series of stolen vehicles, theft from vehicles, and criminal mischief cases over the past few months. Thanks to the utilization of the Real-Time Intelligence Center and Flock license plate readers, the detectives were able to identify a suspect in several of these cases.

Although Lexington Police cannot disclose the identity of the suspect due to their status as a juvenile, they have provided the charges against the individual. The 16-year-old is facing charges related to the pursuit as well as 11 separate incidents of vehicle theft or criminal mischief throughout Lexington.

This arrest highlights the success of the Lexington Police Department's efforts to combat auto crimes and protect the community. By employing advanced technology and investigative techniques, the detectives were able to apprehend a suspect believed to be responsible for multiple offenses.

The Lexington Division of Waste Management has also announced adjustments to its collection schedule for the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays. Residents are encouraged to check the revised schedule to ensure proper disposal of waste during this period.
