A section of Squires Road is set to close temporarily for a week beginning Friday, December 6, to facilitate road reconstruction. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day between Richmond Road and Brookewind Way starting at 6 p.m. on December 6 through the weekend. On Monday, December 9, the road will reopen at 6 a.m., but daily closures from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will continue until Friday, December 13.
During this period, access to Squires Road from Richmond Road will be unavailable. Drivers are advised to follow detours via South Eagle Creek Drive and Cove Lake Drive to reach Squires Road or use Shoreside Drive and Brookewind Way for access to the Lake Crossing neighborhood.
The construction is part of the ongoing Squires Road sidewalk project aimed at improving drainage at the intersection of Squires Road and an access road leading to a nearby shopping center.
In related developments, operations at Valley View Ferry ceased on November 30 at 8 p.m., with plans for recertification and repairs expected to last one or two months. Additionally, Martin Luther King Blvd. has been closed between East Fifth Street and Rand Ave. since Monday, November 25 due to sanitary sewer construction.
