Attempted murder arrest made after November assault

One person has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder following an assault on November 2, 2024. Personal Crimes Detectives were called to a local hospital on November 4, where they encountered a female victim who had been physically assaulted. The investigation revealed that the incident took place in the 4100 block of Georgetown Road. Detectives concluded there was sufficient probable cause to charge the suspect with attempted murder.

Deon Fields, aged 31, was apprehended by the Georgetown Police Department on December 3, 2024. He faces charges related to this incident and other unrelated offenses. Fields is currently detained at the Scott County Detention Center and awaits extradition to Fayette County.

The Lexington Police Department expressed gratitude towards the Georgetown Police Department for their assistance in this case.

In other news, a section of Squires Road will be closed temporarily for one week starting Friday, December 6, to allow for road reconstruction. Additionally, operations at Valley View Ferry will cease on November 30 at 8 p.m., lasting one to two months for recertification and repairs.
