Holiday waste collection schedule

Lexington’s Division of Waste Management will adjust its collection schedule for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Carts will not be picked up on Friday, Dec. 22, Monday, Dec. 25, or Monday, Jan. 1.

Residents who normally receive curbside pickup on Fridays will be served on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Please note that the makeup day is before the normal pickup day.

Residents who normally receive curbside pickups on Mondays will be served on Wednesday, Dec. 27 and Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Residents should place their carts out after 4 p.m. on Tuesday to ensure Wednesday collection.

The week of December 18, businesses with dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) normally served by the city on Friday, will have their units picked up Thursday, Dec. 21. Businesses with dumpsters normally served on Thursday will be picked up Wednesday, Dec. 20.

The weeks of December 25 and January 1, businesses with dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling), normally served by the city on Mondays will be served on Tuesdays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Businesses with dumpsters normally serviced on Tuesdays will be picked up Wednesdays, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

Curbside collection of natural Christmas trees will take place Jan. 2 – 26 on your normal collection day. Natural wreaths and garland can be disposed of in your gray yard waste cart. All lights, ornaments, tinsel and other decor should be removed before disposing of natural items.

The Recycle Center, Electronics Recycling Center and Haley Pike Waste Management Facility will be closed Dec. 22 – 25 and Dec. 30 – Jan. 1.
