Mayor Linda Gorton urged motorists to use extra caution on the drive home this evening.

“We’re not expecting a lot of snow accumulation, but visibility can be affected by the bursts of snow that are forecast this afternoon and evening,” Gorton said.

Police are prepared to offer assistance, if needed.

The city’s road crews will be on duty until 8 p.m., when the snow is expected to stop falling.

Hills, bridges and intersections will be treated, as needed.

The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention has activated its Emergency Winter Weather Plan tonight through Thursday morning.

The plan provides a coordinated response in times when extreme cold weather creates additional, immediate need for expanded capacity to assist persons experiencing homelessness in Lexington. Shelters will add capacity to accommodate those in need.
