Lexington is set to hold a free paper shredding event for residents on Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike and allows Fayette County residents to dispose of sensitive documents securely.

Residents can bring up to five boxes or bags of junk mail, documents, and other papers for shredding. Shred-it, a division of Stericycle, will manage the document destruction with their mobile shredding trucks. The shredded material will be recycled into low-grade paper products like tissue paper. Pre-shredded materials are also accepted.

Participants are advised to load their materials in their vehicle’s trunk in boxes or paper bags that do not need to be returned. Upon arrival, attendees should remain in their vehicles while event staff unloads the items by accessing the trunk.

For those interested in future events, sign-ups for text or email notifications about upcoming Waste Management events are available.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council also extends an invitation to attend the Transportation Expo, which will address various transportation topics.
