Shooting on Devonport Drive results in one fatality; police seek information

One of the victims from the October 3, 2024 shooting on Devonport Drive has died from his injuries, leading authorities to investigate the case as a homicide and shooting. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2200 block of Devonport Drive. Upon arrival, they found two individuals with gunshot wounds.

The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. An 18-year-old victim sustained life-threatening injuries, while a 14-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased as Juan Martinez-Bustos, who succumbed to his injuries on October 15, 2024.

The investigation is being handled by Personal Crimes Detectives. They urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Lexington Police at (859) 258-3600.
