The City of Lexington, in collaboration with the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station, is organizing a free trash disposal day for Fayette County residents. This event will take place on Saturday, October 12, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station located at 1505 Old Frankfort Pike.

Residents of Fayette County are invited to dispose of up to one pickup truck load of non-hazardous household waste without any charge. Those using cars or SUVs can also participate in this initiative. Items typically collected through the city's curbside trash collection program will be accepted at no cost during this event.

However, it is important to note that construction and demolition debris, yard waste, and large outdoor items will incur the regular gate rate as they do not qualify for free disposal. Additionally, "We will not accept appliances, electronics or household hazardous waste during this event."

Lexington organizes free disposal days four times annually—in January, April, July, and October. Residents interested in receiving updates about Waste Management events can sign up for text or email alerts.
