Starting today and continuing through October 13, Fayette County residents can dispose of yard waste from the recent storm at no charge at the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility located at 4216 Hedger Lane. The facility will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with the requirement that residents arrive by 5 p.m. for service. A driver's license or other proof of residence in Fayette County is required.
Residents who use city waste services can utilize their grey carts and yard waste bags for disposing of leaves and limbs. Limbs should be cut into four-foot sections and may be stacked between the sidewalk and curb for collection. Those without sidewalks should place debris at the edge of their yard, close to the curb. The material will be picked up as part of normal weekly service.
The city has requested that residents help employees work efficiently during this busy time by bundling loose limbs.
After October 13, operations at Haley Pike will return to normal hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The facility will remain closed to the public on Wednesdays and weekends. Throughout the year, Fayette County residents are allowed to bring two pickup-truck loads of brush or yard waste each month free of charge. A pickup load is defined as a regular full-size eight-foot bed, while a double-axle sixteen-foot trailer counts as two loads. Each additional load costs $28 per ton.
