The Lexington Police Department is partnering with Immanuel Baptist Church and GreenHouse 17 to participate in the National Faith and Blue Weekend by hosting an event on October 13, 2024.
"Join the Lexington Police Department and Immanuel Baptist Church on October 13, 2024, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Baptist Church Tates Creek Campus (3100 Tates Creek Road) for a Faith and Blue Event," reads a statement from the department.
Members of various units within the Lexington Police Department, including Motorcycle, Canine, Bicycle, Hazardous Devices, Mounted, and Recruiting Units, will be present to provide demonstrations. The Police Cook Team will be grilling out, and the Operation Copsicle Van will make an appearance. Representatives from other public safety partners will also attend.
The event will feature a donation drive to collect supplies for GreenHouse 17. Needed items include towels, washcloths, shower caddies, and essential hygiene items. A full list of needed items can be found at greenhouse17.org/support-us/our-wish-list/.
The event is free and open to the public.
This week, surveying will begin for a project to improve safety along a busy Lexington corridor. Part of Delong Road will be limited to one lane of traffic from Monday, Sept. 16 to Friday, Oct. 4.
Fayette County residents can dispose of household materials such as paint and cleaners at the city’s fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.
