Residents are invited to view and provide input on the draft designs for growth in Fayette County during an open house on Monday, July 15, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lexington Senior Center, located at 195 Life Lane.

The Urban County Council voted to approve expanding the boundary in June of 2023. Lexington's Planning Commission recommended a 2,800-acre expansion of the Urban Service Boundary (USB) in five locations across Fayette County. The USB identifies the part of the county where urban services, including city garbage collection, streetlights, and street sweeping, are provided and a higher density for development is allowed.

The designs include walkable town centers, neighborhoods, and businesses. They also feature roads, trails, green space, parks, and other quality-of-life elements. The Urban Growth Master Plan team will be present at the open house to guide residents through the plans and answer questions.

Lexington’s Division of Planning, working with a team of consultants, will present the final plan for growth in October 2024.
