Residents of Fayette and Jessamine counties are invited to review and provide input on the region’s 2025 to 2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP outlines projects that are ready to proceed over the next four years and have secured formal funding commitments.
“The Transportation Improvement Program is the implementation part of the planning process. While our Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) identifies what the region wants to work on within the next 25 years, the TIP identifies what work will actually occur in the next four years,” said Chris Evilia with the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). “The TIP recommendations are based on the highest priorities identified within our transportation plan (MTP), but we would like residents to review the proposed recommendations and let us know their thoughts on what projects from the MTP should be moving forward.”
To gather public input on the draft TIP, the MPO will hold an open-house listening session at the Marksbury Branch of the Lexington Public Library, located at 2197 Versailles Road, on Wednesday, July 24, from 4 – 6 p.m.
The draft TIP and a virtual presentation of project recommendations are also available for public review and comment online at lexarempo.org. Additionally, questions and comments about the plan can be directed to MPO staff via email at lexareampo@lexingtonky.gov or by phone at (859) 258-3160. Comments will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 2, 2024.
Comments may be submitted through several formats:
- US Postal Service: Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, 101 East Vine St., Suite 700, Lexington, KY 40507
- Email: lexareampo@lexingtonky.gov
- Social Media: Facebook @LexingtonAreaMPO
Comment drop boxes will also be available during the open-house listening session.
The 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program was developed by the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, which serves as the regional transportation planning agency for Fayette and Jessamine Counties.
