Lexington will host a free paper shred event on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike. This event, which allows Lexington residents to safely dispose of sensitive materials in an environmentally-friendly way, is organized by the city.
Shred-it, a division of Stericycle, will be on-site to securely destroy documents using their fleet of mobile shredding trucks. The material collected during the event will be recycled into low-grade paper products, such as tissue paper. It's worth noting that pre-shredded material will also be accepted at the event.
Participants are advised to prepare for the event by loading acceptable materials into their vehicle’s trunk in boxes or paper bags that they do not need back. During the event, attendees will be asked to pop the trunk so that the event staff can unload the materials. For safety reasons, participants are requested to remain in their vehicles at all times.
This initiative aims to provide a convenient and secure way for residents to dispose of their sensitive documents while also promoting environmental sustainability through recycling.
If you are a Lexington resident looking to safely dispose of sensitive materials, mark your calendar for this upcoming free paper shred event.
