The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is soliciting public comments on the MLK Apartments project at 530 North Martin Luther King Blvd., Lexington, KY 40508, for potential consulting parties interested in more information about the Federal 106 Review Process. Qureshi Development Group proposes the rehabilitation and renovation of an existing historic church building into 20 multifamily units of permanent affordable rental housing at 530 North Martin Luther King Blvd., Lexington, KY 40508. A total of eight units will have HOME funds and three will have HOME-ARP. Total estimated project cost: $3,078,000. Approximately $1,140,728 of HOME and $272,786 HOME-ARP funds will be used. The remaining cost will be funded by Lexington AHTF, Developer Funds, and Private Neighborhood Investment.

Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the proposed MLK Apartment project utilizing the online public comment form at Legal Notices | City of Lexington (lexingtonky.gov). Address written comments to the attention of Celia Moore, Grants Manager, Grants and Special Programs, LFUCG, at the above address. You may also submit your comments via email, Monday through Friday, to grants@lexingtonky.gov. All public comments are requested by the close of business on Friday, January 26, 2024.
FEDERAL SECTION 106 REVIEW PROCESS
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is carrying out the Federal Section 106 Review Process as required under the National Historic Preservation Act, and its regulations noted in 36 CFR Part 800 regarding this proposed project. Anyone with a vested interest in the undertaking or those with pertinent historic property-related information to provide may request further information by emailing Bettie Kerr at grants@lexingtonky.gov. Consulting parties have certain rights and obligations as part of the Federal Section 106 Review Process described on the HUD Historic Preservation website and on the Citizen Guide to Section 106 Review.
