The City of Lexington is seeking input from residents regarding trees through a new survey. The feedback collected will guide the development of policies and programs related to trees in Lexington-Fayette County.

The survey period runs from October 14 to November 10, and all Fayette County residents are encouraged to participate. It is accessible online in English, Spanish, and Swahili. Additionally, city employees, contractors, and volunteers will conduct the survey in-person across the community.

Residents who complete the survey and provide follow-up information will have a chance to win one of ten Visa gift cards.

In 2022, the Urban County Council and administration allocated $1.5 million to support Lexington's tree canopy. To assist with this initiative, the Division of Environmental Services established a Tree Canopy Ad Hoc Committee, also known as the Lex Grow Trees Committee. This committee is responsible for sponsoring the current tree survey.
