Arrest made in Winchester Rd shooting incident

On June 25, 2024, around 1:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Winchester Rd and Liberty Rd in response to a shooting incident involving a victim. Upon arrival, they located a female victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.

Using resources from the Real-Time Intelligence Center, including license plate readers and traffic cameras, detectives identified the suspect as Demetrius Maxberry, 24. Maxberry was subsequently arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree (Domestic Violence), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
