Lexington police arrest suspect in Old Georgetown Street homicide

The Lexington Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred this afternoon on Old Georgetown Street.

On Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 190 block of Old Georgetown Street for an assault with a weapon. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from blunt force trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased victim’s name.

The suspect, Roger Wiley, 55, was arrested and charged with Murder and Assault 2nd Degree in connection with the homicide. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
