Stanton, KY - U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) has revealed the allocation of $300,000 in federal funding from the Fiscal Year 2023 Community Project Funding process to Powell County. This financial support was utilized to acquire three quick-attack fire trucks strategically stationed at the volunteer fire departments in Stanton, Middlefork, and Clay City, enabling enhanced access to remote areas within the county.

In a statement, Congressman Barr highlighted the importance of the funding, stating, "Powell County offers unique cabin-style lodging which plays a large economic role in the community and brings in a vast number of tourists. In the last five years, tourism in the area has increased over 300%, resulting in a critical need for accessible routes for emergency service providers." He expressed pride in the acquisition of multi-functional fire trucks for Powell County, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to incidents such as wrecks, search and rescues, and fires.

Powell Co. Judge Executive Eddie Barnes also commented on the impact of the new resources, stating, "Powell County Fire Departments received three quick attack trucks. The trucks will be used for wrecks, rescues, and most importantly, structure fires. We have some county roads that a normal fire truck cannot get to and these trucks can now provide protection to a lot of cabins and structures that before we couldn't." Barnes expressed gratitude towards Congressman Barr for his ongoing support and dedication to Powell County.

In conclusion, the federal funding secured by Congressman Barr has significantly bolstered Powell County's emergency response capabilities, ensuring the safety and protection of both residents and visitors alike.
