Rep. Barr Announces Over $1.6 Million in Federal Funding to Georgetown

U.S. Congressman Andy Barr recently disclosed the allocation of $1,635,200 in federal funding to the City of Georgetown for the engineering and design of the extension of Lexus Way and expansion of Old Oxford Pike. The funds aim to enhance the transportation network in the region, catering to the needs of the growing community.

In response to the funding announcement, Congressman Barr stated, "The area served by this project continues to see exponential residential and commercial growth, and improvements to these roads will improve long-term efficiency of the roadway itself, increase economic productivity, and enhance safety measures for workers and consumers." He expressed pride in redirecting tax dollars back to the community with broad support from Scott Countians.

Georgetown Mayor Jenkins expressed gratitude for the funding, stating, "The City of Georgetown is thrilled to receive this Community Project Funding allocation for the design of the Lexus Way extension and Old Oxford Road expansion project." Mayor Jenkins emphasized the significance of this funding as a crucial step towards realizing a long-term goal for the community and the region. He also thanked Congressman Andy Barr for his ongoing support, highlighting the benefits the project will bring to residents, businesses, and tourists in Georgetown and Scott County.
