The Lexington Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that took place on the evening of December 27, 2023. According to reports, officers were dispatched to the area of East 5th Street and Pemberton Street at 4:58 p.m. in response to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim inside a vehicle, who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
