Arrests made in October shooting incident on W Short Street

Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with a shooting incident that took place in October on W. Short Street. On October 12, 2024, at approximately 12:16 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of W. Short St. During their investigation, a female victim reported being injured and was subsequently taken to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

Vandale Taylor, aged 32, was arrested on November 20, 2024. He faces charges including five counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Assault 4th Degree (Minor Injury). Andre Franklin, aged 35, was taken into custody on December 2, 2024. He is also charged with five counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Assault 4th Degree (Minor Injury).

In related city news, the Valley View Ferry ceased operations on November 30 at 8 p.m., with plans for recertification and repairs expected to last one to two months. Additionally, Martin Luther King Blvd. is closed between East Fifth Street and Rand Ave., beginning Monday, November 25 due to sanitary sewer construction.
