Lexington police investigate Versailles Road homicide

The Lexington Police Department is conducting an investigation into a homicide that took place on the evening of December 1, 2024. Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Versailles Road at approximately 8:44 p.m. following reports of shots fired. Shortly thereafter, a male victim arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound and later succumbed to his injuries. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the name of the deceased.

Detectives are actively investigating the case and are requesting anyone with information to contact Lexington Police at (859) 258-3600. In other news, operations for the Valley View Ferry ceased on November 30 at 8 p.m. The shutdown is expected to last one to two months for recertification and repairs. Additionally, Martin Luther King Blvd. will be closed between East Fifth Street and Rand Ave., starting Monday, November 25, due to sanitary sewer construction.
