The Lexington Police Department is currently hiring school crossing guards to work in its Bureau of Special Operations. These positions are part-time and involve assisting students and pedestrians in safely navigating busy school intersections. School crossing guards are non-sworn employees who work morning and afternoon shifts while Fayette County Public Schools are in session. The hourly pay rate for these positions is $15.75.

"Become a part of the community you serve and help ensure the safety of Lexington's students," stated a representative from the department.

Individuals interested in applying or learning more about these positions are encouraged to fill out an interest form provided by the department.

Additionally, with the implementation of Phase One of Lexington’s Heat Plan, the Division of Waste Management will begin collection services an hour earlier than usual. Furthermore, parts of Parkers Mill and Cross Keys roads will be closed starting Monday, June 24, for sanitary sewer construction.
