With the implementation of Phase One of Lexington’s Heat Plan, Lexington’s Division of Waste Management will begin collection services an hour earlier this week while the heat advisory remains in effect. City offices will also be closed on Wednesday in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

City waste collection will begin one hour earlier for the remainder of the week due to high temperatures expected through Saturday evening. This adjustment aims to allow crews to complete work prior to the hottest part of the day. Residents are advised to place their carts on the curb the evening before their collection day after 4 p.m.

Due to the Juneteenth holiday, the Lexington Recycle Center and the Electronics Recycle Center will be closed on Wednesday, June 19. The Haley Pike Waste Management Facility remains closed on Wednesdays.

For more information, contact LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255. Residents can sign up for text alerts about changes to their waste collection schedule by texting their regular collection day (MONDAY, TUESDAY, THURSDAY, or FRIDAY) to 888777 or signing up for email alerts.

Parts of Parkers Mill and Cross Keys roads will be closed beginning on Monday, June 24, for sanitary sewer construction.
