The intersection of Gainesway Drive and Greentree Road in Lexington is set to be closed for construction work starting Monday, April 22. The closure is expected to last until May 1. Additionally, sections of Greentree Road will also be closed to through traffic until late June.
The construction project, part of the West Hickman Trunk E sanitary sewer project, aims to replace and upsize approximately 6,000 feet of sanitary sewer pipe from Armstrong Mill to New Circle Road. This initiative is in line with federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to enhance its sanitary sewer system.
Residents in the area are advised that access to homes will be maintained throughout the construction period. Detour routes have been established to help manage traffic flow during the closure.
Furthermore, the spring mulch giveaway for Lexington residents is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 20, providing an opportunity for the community to benefit from this initiative.
The city officials have emphasized the importance of this construction project in improving the sanitation infrastructure of Lexington, despite the temporary inconvenience it may cause to commuters in the affected areas.
