In a bid to enhance pedestrian access and safety in surrounding neighborhoods, sidewalk construction is set to take place on Wilson Downing and Squires roads. According to a statement, "Sidewalk construction is coming to Wilson Downing and Squires roads to improve pedestrian access and safety in surrounding neighborhoods."
The construction work is scheduled to commence on Monday, April 15, with completion expected by the end of this year. The announcement mentioned, "Beginning on Monday, April 15, contractors will begin preparing Wilson Downing and Squires roads for sidewalk installation. Construction will be complete by the end of this year."
Drivers in the vicinity should take note that during the construction period, there may be single-lane closures on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wilson Downing Road from Nicholasville Road to Tates Creek Road, as well as on Squires Road from Cove Lake Drive to Richmond Road. The statement assured that two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, with flaggers present as needed. "During construction, single-lane closures may occur on weekdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wilson Downing Road from Nicholasville Road to Tates Creek Road, and on Squires Road from Cove Lake Drive to Richmond Road. Highlighting the current lack of sidewalks in certain areas along Wilson Downing Road, the project aims to rectify this. "Currently, there are areas along Wilson Downing Road with no sidewalks on either side of the road. This project will ensure that sidewalks are available on one or both sides of Wilson Downing Road, between Nicholasville Road and Tates Creek Road. Sidewalks will also be completed on the north side of Squires Road, from Cove Lake Drive to Richmond Road."
