Three Lexington Police officers were involved in a shooting incident on Regency Point Path in Lexington on April 2, 2024. The officers responded to a call regarding a disorder with a weapon and encountered a suspect armed with a firearm. Shots were fired, resulting in the suspect, a 47-year-old male, sustaining serious injuries. Despite receiving aid and being transported to a local hospital, the suspect was later pronounced deceased. Fortunately, none of the officers involved were injured during the incident.
The officers followed protocol by activating their issued body-worn cameras, as per Lexington Police Department policies. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is currently investigating the shooting, while the department's Public Integrity Unit will conduct an internal review. As standard procedure, the officers implicated in the shooting will be placed on administrative assignment pending the conclusion of the investigation.
