Lexington’s Stormwater Quality Projects Incentive Grant Program has opened its doors for applications aimed at reducing stormwater runoff, improving water quality, and enhancing public awareness about water-related issues in the city. According to a recent announcement, applications are now being accepted for all types of grants under this program.

Class A Neighborhood Grants have been earmarked for Fayette County neighborhood, community, and homeowner associations representing single-family homeowners or farms. These grants can be utilized for various projects such as rain gardens, stream bank restoration, and neighborhood workshops, all aimed at managing stormwater through education and infrastructure improvements.

For those interested in the Class B Education Grants, schools, churches, nonprofits, and businesses outside the Class A category can access these funds. The grants have previously supported initiatives like stormwater-related curricula development, public outreach campaigns on water quality, and educational workshops and rain gardens.

Applicants are reminded that the deadline for submitting applications for neighborhood and education grants is Friday, May 3, 2024. First-time applicants are particularly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

In addition, applications for Class B Infrastructure Grants are now open for businesses, schools, churches, apartment complexes, and other institutions. These grants have previously funded various stormwater projects, including stream restoration, constructed wetlands, and rainwater harvesting. Funding is available for feasibility studies as well as design and construction projects, with the deadline set for Friday, July 26, 2024.
