Green Check program now accepting applications

The deadline for Green Check is rapidly approaching. Green Check is a free sustainability certification program for businesses based in Lexington-Fayette County. Over 50 businesses and organizations are currently enrolled in the program.

The application process is simple and quick. Interested businesses fill out a short form, found at lexingtonky.gov/GreenCheck, by Jan. 31, 2023. Selected businesses will be notified in February.

Green Check recognizes businesses and organizations for their green initiatives and helps them expand their sustainability efforts. The program begins with a personal consultation and completion of the Green Check Sustainability Scorecard. The Sustainability Scorecard caters to organizations across a variety of sectors, including restaurants, non-profit organizations, retail, and manufacturers. Participants can own or rent their facilities. Franchises of larger businesses are welcome to apply. The certification is valid for three years.

Businesses that complete the process are recognized at a ceremony in September. They are also recognized on the GreenCheck website, in print publications and through Live Green Lexington’s social media accounts.

Green Check is a program of the City of Lexington, managed by Bluegrass Greensource. For more information, including how to become Green Check Certified, please visit lexingtonky.gov/GreenCheck.
