Arrest made in Delaware Avenue homicide investigation

The Lexington Police Department has arrested one person in connection with a homicide that occurred on Delaware Avenue.

On August 20, 2024, around 5:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Delaware Avenue for a shooting with a victim. Upon arrival, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Luis Ramos, 29, was arrested at the scene and charged with Murder and Using Restricted Ammunition During Commission of a Crime, as well as unrelated warrants. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the decedent.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, traffic on North Upper Street between Main Street and Short Street will be limited to one lane from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
