The City of Lexington is collaborating with the municipal governments of Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Scott, and Woodford Counties to develop regional climate action plans. This initiative is funded by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The initial phase focused on projects ready for immediate implementation and has been completed. The next phase involves holding regional meetings in each county to gather public input for establishing a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.

Fayette County's meeting will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Marksbury Family Branch of the Lexington Public Library located at 2197 Versailles Road. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with refreshments provided.

Lextran Route 8 serves the Marksbury Branch, and bike racks are available at the library.

Community members are encouraged to attend to learn about and comment on potential projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the region. The majority of emissions stem from electricity consumption and transportation.

Meetings will be held in each partner county over the following weeks. Details for these meetings will be posted as they are finalized. Additionally, a virtual region-wide meeting and survey will be offered later this year for further input opportunities. All related information will be available on the Sustainability webpage.
