Southbend Drive will be closed beginning Monday, June 17, from Clays Mill Road to Lafayette Parkway. The closure will facilitate the construction of a sanitary sewer line at the creek crossing. The road is scheduled to reopen in time for the first day of Fayette County Public Schools on August 14.

Motorists can detour around the closure by using Reed Lane, which runs parallel to Southbend Drive between Clays Mill Road and Lafayette Parkway. Residents will be able to access their homes during construction.

The construction is part of the Wolf Run Trunk F sanitary sewer project, which aims to replace and upsize over 3,500 feet of sanitary sewer line along Wolf Run Creek from Spring Meadows Drive to Lafayette Parkway. This project is part of the city’s obligations under a court-ordered consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency to improve Lexington’s sanitary sewers.

Lex Grow Trees has announced the recipients of their inaugural grants, aimed at supporting efforts to bolster Lexington's tree canopy.
