Lexington, KY– Yesterday, Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) revealed a significant boost for economic development in Lexington with the announcement of $10 million in federal funding allocated towards the establishment of a new 200-acre business park. The allocated funds will primarily focus on infrastructure development such as roads, sewer systems, and sidewalks. The achievement was made possible through Barr's successful securing of funding during the Fiscal Year 2024 Community Project Funding process.

Congressman Barr emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "This project underscores the community’s commitment to bolstering economic growth and creating jobs in Lexington." He further highlighted the anticipated impact of the project, saying, “Legacy Business Park is expected to create nearly 1,700 jobs and produce an estimated $2.9 million of annual tax revenue. I am proud to be able to return Fayette Countians hard earned tax dollars back to our community.”

Mayor Linda Gorton also expressed her enthusiasm for the economic prospects that this funding brings to Lexington. She stated, “Lexington’s economy is running full steam ahead, fully recovered from the pandemic, and breaking records for the number of people employed.” Gorton emphasized the positive implications of the investment, adding, “This funding from Congressman Barr will help us ensure our economy continues to thrive. This business park gives us 23 economic development sites. It gives us the opportunity to welcome manufacturing operations, and other businesses to Fayette County.”

The development of Legacy Business Park is poised to further stimulate economic growth in Lexington, providing a platform for job creation and revenue generation. The project signifies a collaborative effort to strengthen the local economy and create a conducive environment for businesses to flourish in Fayette County.
