On Friday, November 15, 2024, a total of 12 high school seniors and college freshmen were awarded the Partners for Youth/Toyota Scholarship. The recipients were honored at the 2024 Partners for Youth/Toyota Scholarship Banquet held at the Lexington Senior Center. This event was made possible through a collaboration between Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky, the Lexington-Fayette County Urban Government, and Holifield Photography.

The scholarship program began in 1998 with a donation from Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky. Eligibility for nomination is extended to youth participating in programs funded by the Partners for Youth Grassroots Allocations Program or those involved in Neighborhood Youth Councils. The scholarships can be used for any post-secondary education program, aiming to encourage recipients to continue their educational pursuits. Annually, thanks to Toyota's generosity, 12 youths are awarded these scholarships.

This year's scholarship recipients include Allyce' Fox Thompson, Angela Angulo-Rugerio, Evan Herzog, Firdaus Carimo, Lukas Tsppis, Montae Ashford, Sabrina Ghazaleh, Tameyah Green, Uwase Mignone, Vania Garcia, Zoey Washington, and Issa El-Amin.

For more details about this year’s recipients, interested individuals can visit the Partners for Youth website.

Partners for Youth (PFY) is a Lexington-based non-profit organization that serves as a clearinghouse for community contributions such as financial and in-kind support to programs aiding young people. PFY coordinates these services to ensure cooperative and effective program operation with maximum impact on supporting youth. The organization was founded by Mayor Pam Miller in early 1995 following an incident involving the shooting of an African American youth by a white police officer in October 1994. In response to public discussions regarding despair among segments of Lexington's youth population after this tragedy, PFY was established to provide resources to these underserved groups.
