The Lexington Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that transpired on Dakota Street. The incident took place on Friday, May 17, 2024, around 8:46 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Dakota Street following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim outdoors who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office in due course.
Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section are continuing their investigation into this case.
