The city is asking residents to report ways Lexington’s streets can be made safer for everyone, Mayor Linda Gorton said today.
The city is launching a “Complete Streets” initiative to make transportation in Lexington safe, affordable, accessible and dependable. Complete Streets means streets that are designed for everyone, including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
The city is putting together a Complete Streets Plan that will guide it over the next five years. “To complete an effective action plan we first need to hear from the public,” Gorton said. “It’s easy to get involved. Just complete our on-line survey by Sept. 24.” Paper copies of the survey are available at Lexington Public Library branches.
The survey focuses on seven key areas: Planning and Design, Accessibility, Safety, Project Coordination, Project Selection, Operations and Maintenance, and Community Engagement.
