The Lexington fire department is happy to accept two vans for our Community Paramedicine program, paid for with federal funds. It takes a team, and we are delighted to have the support of Mayor Linda Gorton and Congressman Andy Barr.

The LFUCG's commitment to vulnerable populations within Lexington continues to grow, as does Community Paramedicine. Chief Wells expressed his thanks, "The Lexington Fire Department is so proud of the life-changing work that our Community Paramedicine team is doing, and we continue to seek new avenues for care delivery. We are so thankful to have the support of Mayor Gorton and Congressman Andy Barr."

Congressman Andy Barr said, "Lexington is incredibly fortunate to have the Community Paramedicine program, which exists to serve some of our most vulnerable citizens. I was honored to submit a direct funding request for the City of Lexington's Barrier Free Re-Entry and Recovery Initiative. An important component of this request is celebrated today, as we present the keys to two vans to the Community Paramedicine team. These vans will aid the team in transporting individuals to and from their appointments with treatment providers and further their service to our community. Thank you to the members of the Community Paramedicine Team, Lexington Fire Department, and to Mayor Gorton for making my office aware of this need and working tirelessly to serve the citizens of Lexington."

Mayor Gorton added, "Community Paramedicine has expanded emergency medical care in Lexington by allowing firefighters to look a little deeper and find longer-term solutions for people, including addressing mental health concerns when needed. Community Paramedicine relies on teamwork. Firefighters work closely with the Police Department, our folks in housing, social service agencies, and health care providers. Thank you, Congressman Barr, for joining the team. These new vans are making our work easier and more efficient."
