A downtown patriotic concert, parade, and fireworks spectacular will be at the center of Lexington’s booming Fourth of July celebration.

With events such as an annual Ice Cream Social, Patriotic Concert featuring the Lexington Philharmonic, Festival and Market, and Bluegrass 10,000 and Fun Run, there will be something for everyone this Fourth of July.

“Our Fourth of July celebration is one of our biggest celebrations. It is rooted in American tradition,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “This celebration brings together our entire community to celebrate our city and our independence.”

Continuing their partnership with the city, R. J. Corman Railroad Group will once again host the launch site of Lexington’s Fourth of July fireworks.

“R. J. Corman is pleased to partner with Mayor Gorton and the City of Lexington again for this year's Independence Day celebrations,” said President and CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group Ed Quinn. “We have much to be thankful for, and we look forward to celebrating our country and our freedoms this next 4th of July.”

The fireworks will begin at 10 p.m., Tuesday, July 4. For the best viewing experience, Lexington residents and visitors are encouraged to come downtown for the fireworks show.

Lexington Parks and Recreation is overseeing the city’s Fourth of July events.

“We have a spectacular series of events to sparkle-up your entire holiday weekend,” said Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Adrienne Thakur. “Look for festivities each day, beginning Saturday, July 1, to Tuesday, July 4. Moondance Amphitheater, Downtown Lexington, and Transylvania University at Gratz Park will each host concerts, festivals, races, and picnics throughout Lexington. Every event is free and open to the public and packed with local talent and vendors. Please come and enjoy these beautiful spaces with your family and friends, as we celebrate our nation’s birthday.”
