Financial Literacy Program

Begin Date:  Wednesday, February 15, 2023 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Lunch will be provided by our sponsor the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union! 

Finances can be extremely fun when you understand the basics and begin to visualize the impact financial planning can have on your life. 

Presentation Overview: 

  •Identifying Goal and Time Horizons - Invest time horizons are determined more by an investor's goals for the funds rather than the mechanisms itself. 

  •Risk Tolerance - is the degree of variability in investment retrns that an investor is willing to withstand.

  •Relationship between Risk and Return - invested money can render higher profits only if the investor is willing to accept the possibility of losses.

  •Types of Investments - stocks, bonds, mutual funds, cash equivalents, and general "other" investments which include real estate, futures, and collectibles.

  •Diversification/Asset Allocation - enables you to reduce the risk of your portfolio with-out sacrificing potential returns/Asset allocation involves dividing an investment portfolio among different asset categories, such as stocks, bonds, and cash.

Who Should Attend:  All College of Dentistry students are invited to attend, but space may be limited depending on availability of class rooms.

The College of Dentistry has teamed with the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union to provide these monthly seminars to inform our students about financial literacy.
