Residents within Fayette and Jessamine counties are encouraged to participate in the review and feedback process for the region's 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The plan, which outlines significant transportation projects and services for the next 25 years, seeks input from the public to shape the future of transportation in the area.

According to Chris Evilia from the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), "The World has changed in a significant way since 2020 and how many of us will get from point A to point B in the future will also change. This plan is important to identify the changes our community desires by the year 2050 and public feedback is essential to adequately understanding that."

To facilitate public engagement, the MPO will be hosting six open-house listening sessions for residents to review the draft 2050 plan and engage with MPO planners. The draft plan is also available online for public review and comments at lexarempo.org. Feedback and questions can be directed to the MPO via email at lexareampo@lexingtonky.gov or by phone at (859) 258-3160. Comments on the draft MTP will be accepted until Monday, April 15, 2024.

The 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, developed by the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, is set for adoption by the MPO Transportation Policy Committee on April 24, 2024, pending public feedback.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the scheduled MTP Public Listening Sessions to contribute to the future transportation goals and priorities of the region.

Celebrate Lexington’s fifth annual Water Week from March 16 – 23 with more than 20 events that encourage a connection with local waterways. The City of Lexington is also launching the second year of Solarize Lexington, a program aimed at promoting solar panel installation for residents to reduce their environmental impact.
