Transy Athletics welcomes Matt Andrews as the head coach for Transy Cross Country/Track and Field

Transy Athletics welcomes Matthew Andrews as the new Head Coach for Transylvania Cross Country/Track and Field. Previously the assistant coach for cross country/track and field at Manchester University, Andrews brings knowledge of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and its competition.

"We are excited to have Matt take the lead of our Cross Country and Track programs at Transylvania. He brings great enthusiasm with a passion to recruit and develop athletes to be their best," said Transy Associate Director of Athletics, Jeff Chaney.

At Manchester, Matthew was heavily involved in recruiting distance athletes, creating and scheduling their routines and training. He also assisted in hosting cross country and track and field meets. During his time on staff, his teams won two HCAC Cross Country titles, two HCAC Indoor Track and Field titles, and two HCAC Outdoor Track and Field titles. In those two years, he also helped coach 112 All-HCAC athletes, seven Great Lakes All-Region athletes, and three NCAA Championships Qualifiers.

Prior to his time at Manchester, Andrews spent time as a graduate assistant at DeSales University where he earned an MBA and worked primarily with 46 track athletes, creating training schedules and workouts. He also aided in recruiting efforts for the team and managed their social media accounts.

Andrews is also a John Carroll graduate where as a student-athlete he was a four-time OAC Champion, 2018 OAC Distance Athlete of the Meet, 12-time All-OAC honoree, 9-time Great Lakes All-Region honoree, and five-time school record holder.

"I am really looking forward to getting to work here at Transy. I think this program has massive potential and is right around the corner from a lot of sustainable success. Transy XCTF is capable of being one of the best teams in the region and I look forward to working with student athletes that see that potential as well."

Matthew begins his first full week at Transylvania this week.
