Kentucky men’s tennis team wins doubleheader against Southern Indiana

The Kentucky men’s tennis team won both matches of a doubleheader against Southern Indiana on March 16 at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, with final scores of 4-1 and 4-0.

The victories improve Kentucky’s record to 12-7 overall and 3-4 in Southeastern Conference play, while Southern Indiana falls to 4-7. The matches were played indoors in Lexington.

In the first match, Kentucky secured the doubles point with strong performances from Mikael Arseneault and Matt Rankin on court two (6-1), and Martin Breysach and Charlelie Cosnet on court one (6-0). In singles play, No. 102 Nicolas Arseneault defeated Axel Sabourin in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), followed by No. 38 Jack Loutit winning over Mathys Bove (6-2, 6-1). Southern Indiana earned its only point when Aaron Dawson beat Jaden Weekes (6-2, 6-3), but Mikael Arseneault clinched the match for Kentucky with a win over Jy Hibbert (6-0, 6-3).

During the second match, Breysach and Cosnet again led in doubles with a 6-1 victory on court one. Arseneault and Loutit paired up for their first win together on court three (6-3) to secure the doubles point. In singles action, No. 77 Cosnet defeated Sabourin (6-0, 6-3), Breysach won over Kalani Hibbert (6-2, 6-2), and Arseneault clinched the sweep by beating Aaron Dawson (6-1, 6-2).

Kentucky will return to conference play this weekend with an away match at No. 14 South Carolina on Friday before hosting No. 3 Texas on Sunday in Lexington. Admission to all home matches at the Boone Tennis Complex is free.
