The Kentucky Wildcats women’s golf team finished third at the Valspar Augusta Invitational after completing the final round at Forest Acres Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, on March 15.

The team’s performance is notable as it marks their second-best 54-hole tournament total out of eight events this season. Missouri secured first place with a score of two under par, while Furman finished second at two over par, narrowly surpassing Kentucky’s five over par across three rounds.

In the final round, all players in Kentucky’s lineup scored no worse than two over par. Four players posted exactly two over, and Raleygh Simpson recorded an even-par round. Simpson, a sophomore from Kerrville, Texas, achieved her season and career bests with two even-par rounds of 72 during the weekend. Her overall score of three over par placed her tied for 18th individually and marked her second top-20 finish this season. Simpson also led the field on par-5 holes by averaging 4.5 strokes and going six under on those holes.

Four Wildcats finished in the top 20 individually for only the second time this season. C.A. Carter and Cathryn Brown both ended with even-par tournament totals of 216 to tie for eighth place. This was Carter’s first top-10 college finish and a career-best tournament total; for Brown, it was her fifth top-10 result this season. Anastasia Hekkonen finished tied for 14th at two over par—her fourth top-15 finish this year—while Karlie Campbell closed with a ten-over total to share 42nd place.

The Wildcats’ results reflect consistent improvement throughout their season as they continue to compete against strong conference opponents.
