After President Donald Trump confirmed the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) issued a statement addressing the incident.

“The assassination of Charlie Kirk is a national disgrace, a national tragedy, and a wake up call for America. Enough is enough. I continue to pray for Charlie’s family during this unspeakable tragedy,” Barr said.

Andy Barr has represented Kentucky’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress since 2013, succeeding Ben Chandler. He previously served in the Kentucky House of Representatives and was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1973, where he currently resides. Barr graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree and earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
