Nicholasville, Kentucky—U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) announced a $2.4 million federal grant awarded to Alltech by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Alltech, a company in Nicholasville, has been in operation for over five decades and focuses on animal feed, meat, brewing, and distilling.

The USDA’s Rural Business-Cooperative Service Fertilizer Production Expansion Program provided the grant to support Alltech’s Science Expansion Project in Nicholasville. This project includes constructing a 15,000-square-foot facility expected to produce over 66,000 gallons of biological fertilizer products monthly.

“Alltech is a global leader in agricultural innovation and the largest employer in the city of Nicholasville,” said Congressman Barr. He credited President Trump and Secretary Rollins for their roles in securing this grant for Jessamine County. “I want to commend Dr. Mark Lyons and the Alltech team for working with us… now we have the resources to boost presence, production, and jobs in the region.”

Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell expressed his gratitude: “This USDA grant will support the growth of Alltech… I’m grateful to Congressman Barr for championing this federal funding.” David West, Judge/Executive of Jessamine County added appreciation towards Congressman Barr’s efforts: “Alltech is a wonderful part of our county…”

Mayor Alex Carter noted that “Alltech Crop Science’s expansion is a win for Kentucky agriculture… This investment brings a new facility that will create good jobs…” Dr. Mark Lyons emphasized Alltech’s commitment: “Our deep expertise in microbial fermentation has revolutionized crop nutrition… This investment scales the accessibility of our natural solutions.”
